Salman Khan’s family to develop 19-storey hotel in Bandra

The plans for the hotel have been approved by the BMC.

May 22, 2023: Actor Salman Khan‘s family plans to build a 19-storey hotel at Carter Road, Bandra, Mumbai, as mentioned in a TOI report. The plans for the hotel, which will be built on a sea-facing plot, have been approved by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

The plot is owned by the actor’s mother, Salma Khan. Previously, the plot was occupied by the Starlet Cooperative Housing Society. The initial plans of the Khan family were to redevelop the plot as a residential building. However, the architect firm responsible for the project, Sapre & Associates, had submitted revised plans to construct a commercial building. The new plan under the city’s new Development Control & Promotion Regulation (DCPR-2034) indicates a centrally air-conditioned commercial building with a height of 69.90 m.

According to the TOI report, the 19-storey building will have a café on the first floor, a restaurant on the second floor and a gym and swimming pool on the third floor. The fourth floor will serve as a service floor, while the fifth and sixth floors will have convention centers. The seventh to nineteenth floors will be used for the hotel. The hotel will also have a three level basement.

Salman Khan has significant exposure to real estate through various commercial and residential investments in Mumbai.

In addition to this property, he owns a 1 BHK apartment in Galaxy Apartments, Bandra Bandstand, where he resides, as well as the 14th floor of Shiv Asthan Heights, Bandra (West), that he leased in February 2023 for three years and a farmhouse in Panvel.

Recently, the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) ruled in favour of the actor when he sought to terminate the contract of his 27,000 sq ft commercial property located in Santacruz, which was leased to Future Retail for their food and beverage store, Foodhall.
