“I had always kept a goal that before my birthday in 2017, I should have my own car, my own house, a sorted career and no loans. As I got my car sometime back, the goal was to make sure I get a place for myself in Mumbai which I’m gonna stay in. Thankfully it got fulfilled just in time. Got the keys of my place just before my birthday, now doing my interiors so I can move in soon. Can’t be a better birthday gift to myself I feel,” Pannu told DNA in 2017.

How was the home-buying experience in a city that is counted among the most expensive property markets in the world for a celebrity such as her? Especially, moving from Delhi to Mumbai, two extremely different cities when it comes to availability of space.

“Wide roads, green and open spaces, and horizontal layouts define the living culture of Delhi. And the same rulebook applies to Hyderabad as well. Hence, when I moved to Hyderabad from Delhi, I seamlessly transitioned into it. However, Mumbai was a different ballgame altogether. In Mumbai, we are fighting for every inch of space, and it took me a while to warm up to the matchbox-size apartments the city is swamped with.”

The actor moved in her new home in 2019 with her sister Shagun Pannu.

“It’s been an ordeal to get this apartment ready through the challenging 2020. Finally, #PannuPind is ready for house- warming. It is going to begin with the mandatory soundcheck with my favourite playlist. Coz we like to shake up our guests a little bit #HomeIsHappiness #BeautifulHouse #BeautifulSound #Soundbar #SoundCheck,” Taapsee wrote on Instagram.

Pannu’s all-white pad speaks volumes about the person and the artist she is.

The actor, who won accolades for her impeccable and mind-blowing performance in offbeat films such as Shabaash MithuNaam Shabana, and Thappad, has designed the house with the help of her sister.

The common theme that runs through the house is “shabby chic with a girly vibe”. While almost everything is ‘pastel and European’, pop elements have been introduced here and there to break the monotony.

“My sister (Shagun) and I on our holiday to Spain picked up décor items that fit in the home seamlessly. The furniture too is custom-made. Every corner is curated according to our requirements; everything is there for a reason,” Pannu told media.

The house with blue front door flaunts a logo instead of a name plate outside. Big clocks adorn the prominent walls of the house of an actor who believes that if you don’t value time, it will not value you.

Taapsee Pannu’s favourite spot in her Mumbai home

But which is her favourite corner in her dream home?

“While every space in the house tells a story, one of my favourite corners would be the coffee bar. As I am a teetotaller, I decided to set up a coffee bar, which has an espresso machine and a coffee bean grinder. So, whenever we travel, we bring back coffee beans and blends, which are unique to that place.”
