Union minister Hardeep Singh Puri, on November 28, 2017, appreciated the Telangana government’s double-bedroom houses scheme for the poor, the state government said. The Housing and Urban Affairs Minister visited the IDH Colony in Hyderabad, where the state government has built double-bedroom houses for the poor.

A state government release quoted him as saying that it was ‘revolutionary’, vis-à-vis housing schemes in the country for the weaker sections, to build double-bedroom houses in the ‘in situ model’, to make Hyderabad slum-free. Telangana Animal Husbandry Minister, T Srinivas Yadav, pointed out that one double-bedroom house built by the state, costs Rs 30 lakhs in the open market. Former union minister and BJP MP Bandaru Dattatreya urged Puri to release funds for the works of sewerage and drainage modernisation, the release added.
