Urban Land Institute to commence operations in India

The organisation’s first flagship event will take place in New Delhi on September 28, 2023.

September 13, 2023: Real estate organisation Urban Land Institute (ULI) is planning to begin its India National Council operations in September 2023, according to an official release. ULI India, which was launched in January 2023, will bring together over 100 institutional investors, real estate developers, architects, urban planners and land use policymakers from India to foster collaborative solutions for the urban development challenges.

As mentioned in the release, ULI India will host four events from September 2023 to June 2024 across Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Hyderabad. The first flagship event, ‘Place Innovation in Urban India’ will take place in New Delhi on September 28, 2023, at the India Habitat Centre. These events will serve as a platform to galvanise all the stakeholders in the built environment, stimulating collaboration to fulfil the ULI mission, entailing accelerating decarbonisation, increasing home attainability and educating the next generation of real estate leaders.

Rohan Sikri, ULI India chair & senior partner, The Xander Group, will deliver the opening address, followed by a keynote by Sarah Barns, co-founder & director, ESEM Projects.

This convergence of expertise is well-poised to find innovative solutions to the pressing challenges our cities face. Manasvini Hariharan, director for ULI India leads the initiative to establish the organisation locally. ULI India is backed by eight founding partners: ANAROCK, Blackstone, Brookfield, Hines, Raheja Corp, RMZ, Tata Realty and Infrastructure and the Xander Group. In addition, it has established an executive committee of 11 real estate and land-use experts to spearhead various functions of the organisation. This includes Rohan Sikri as chair (senior partner, The Xander Group), Radha Dhir as vice-chair (CEO and India head, JLL), Amit Diwan as memberships chair (country head – India, Hines), Anupam Yog as vice chair – finance & advisory services co-chair (managing director, XDG Labs); Vivek Narain as events and programming chair (founder, The Quorum and district150), Sanjay Dutt as advisory services chair (managing director, Tata Realty and Infrastructure), Sudeshna Mitra as research chair (associate dean, Indian Institute of Human Settlements), Manisha Bhartia as chair – women’s leadership initiative (India head, BDP), Ankit Samdariya as next chair (head of asset management, India, LOGOS Group); Adwitiya Dawn as chair – young leaders group (Xander Group) and Vinod Rohira, member at large (CEO, Mindspace Business Parks REIT).
