Digital calendars have replaced the traditional wall or desk calendars in most homes today. However, some of us continue to prefer paper calendars as they are convenient and help plan our tasks effectively. Every new year, we set up a new calendar and it brings with it new hopes and expectations for the coming year. To boost the positivity, Vastu Shastra lays down rules for the placement of calendars, similar to wall clocks and other items. Here are some useful Vastu tips to follow when placing calendars at home.
Which direction to place a calendar?
The ideal direction to place a calendar on the wall or desk is the northeast or east. The west is also a favourable direction in which to put a calendar as it is the direction of flow. Moreover, you can choose to keep the calendar in the north direction, where the lord of wealth, Kuber, rules. Keeping a calendar in the west or north direction is believed to boost the flow of money into the house and attract prosperity.
Location to avoid when placing a calendar
- South: Do not keep a calendar in the south direction as it is considered inauspicious. It can also affect the health of the family members.
- Door: Avoid placing a New Year calendar behind the door of a house. Moreover, the new year calendar should not be placed near the main door of a house as it can hinder the progress of the family members.
- Window: Do not keep the calendar in a place, such as a window, where it could be blown away.
Remove the old calendar
Once the new year begins, do not leave the old calendar hanging on the wall. Having an old calendar may not only lead to confusion about the dates but it is not considered favourable, according to Vastu. It can diminish one’s energy and cause one to feel tired or worn out. Moreover, keeping an old calendar can impact the health of the occupants of the house.
Discarding the old calendar and placing a new calendar signifies leaving the past behind and embracing the future or moving forward in life.
Vastu tips to choose a calendar
Make sure to keep calendars that have images reflecting positivity, such as nature, birds, etc. Do not keep a calendar with pictures having images of violence, sadness or animals in pain, which can spread negativity. Further, make sure the calendar is in good condition, as a torn calendar can attract negative energies and lead to Vastu Dosha.
