The VOC Park is a public park located in Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu, which is one of the largest and oldest parks in the city and attracts many visitors throughout the year. The VOC Park was established in 1876 by the British and since then, it has undergone several renovations and upgrades.

VOC Park: History

The VOC Park has a rich history that dates back to the 19th century. The park was originally established in 1876 by the British, who were then ruling India. It was then known as the People’s Park and was a popular destination for British officials and their families. After India gained independence in 1947, the park was renamed in honour of V O Chidambaram Pillai, a prominent Indian freedom fighter and social reformer.

Over the years, the VOC Park has undergone several renovations and upgrades to become one of the best parks in Coimbatore. In the early 2000s, the park was revamped with new facilities and attractions. Today, VOC Park continues to be a popular destination for both locals and tourists who visit Coimbatore.

  2. Take a walk: The park has a beautiful walking track that is perfect for a leisurely stroll. It is surrounded by lush greenery and has benches for visitors to rest and relax.
  3. Visit the gardens: The VOC Park has several gardens, including a rose garden, a bonsai garden and a rock garden, which are home to a variety of plants and flowers. 
  4. Children’s play area: The park has a dedicated play area for children with swings, slides and other attractions.

  1. By bus: There are several buses that connect VOC Park to different parts of Coimbatore. The nearest bus stop to VOC Park is the VOC Nagar bus stop. 
  2. By rail: The Coimbatore Junction is the nearest railway station to the VOC Park. It is located about 5 km from VOC Park.
  3. By air: The Coimbatore International Airport is about 10 km from the VOC Park.
