Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, commonly known as PM Kisan scheme, on February 24, 2019. Under the scheme, the Central government offers land-owning farmers in India a monetary support of Rs 6,000 yearly. This PM Kisan benefit is extended to only eligible farmers in India.

PM Kisan benefit
Through direct benefit transfer, the government sends Rs 6,000 as PM Kisan benefit into the account of every registered farmer. However, the PM Kisan benefit is not offered in one go, but through three equal instalments of Rs 2,000 throughout the year.
The government disbursed over Rs 20,000 crore to more than 9.26 crore farmers under its flagship PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM Kisan) on June 18, 2024. This was 17th instalment that the government had released under the PM Kisan scheme.
When do farmers get the amount under the PM Kisan benefit?
Each instalment amount under the PM Kisan benefit is released every four months into the bank accounts of farmers across the country through direct benefit transfer.
The first instalment is released between April and July every year. The second is distributed between August and November. The third instalment is released between December and March.
