Ahmedabad’s Zen Garden is a popular landmark that draws travellers from all over the world. It is situated next to the CEPT University on the campus of the Gujarat University. Inaugurated in 2001, the 2-acre garden was created by famous landscape architect Baldevbhai Mistry.
The garden was inspired by the traditional Japanese Zen Garden, distinguished by its minimalist style and utilisation of natural elements. A sizable pond, encircled by rocks, sand and gravel, is set in the middle of the garden. The sand and gravel are scraped to produce a ripple effect, symbolising water, and the boulders are put in a certain way to depict mountains.
