Bandra Fort

Castella de Aguada, popularly known as the Bandra Fort, is a historical fort situated at Land’s End in Bandra, Mumbai, 1 km from Mount Mary Church and 17 km from Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus.

Early in the year 1640 A.D., the Portuguese constructed the Bandra Fort to act as a watchtower over Mahim Bay, the Arabian Sea, the islands of Worli, and the town of Mahim to the south and southwest. The fort also protected the northern sea entrance to Mumbai Harbor. It was defended by seven cannons and several smaller guns under the Portuguese authority.

The fort is spread over several levels to a height of 24 metres (79 feet). Many Hindi movies, including Dil Chahta Hai and Buddha Mil Gaya, have depictions of Castella de Aguada in them. This location offers stunning sea views, especially around dusk.

Two 3.6-meter Deepamalas, a rest house, and caretaker housing were all part of the 2550 temple complex. Lake Nardulla, created in the early 19th century to address the water shortage, was eventually filled in, and the site is no longer a part of the temple complex. A Hanuman image was discovered when Sayani Road was extended near Elphinstone Road.
