27 developers have cheated home buyers from 27 villages and the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC).
A case of cheating has been registered against 27 property developers in Maharashtra’s Thane district. These developers fabricated documents for RERA Maharashtra registrations of their projects, an official said according to media reports.

The accused developers had allegedly cheated home buyers from 27 villages and the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) as part of a racket, an official from Manpada police station said.
The complaint that has been filed by a KDMC official mentioned that the accused developers had faltered with documents to show that permissions for the project construction were issued by KDMC.
This fraud took place between 2017 and 2022 and home buyers paid Rs 25 lakh to Rs 35 lakh for each of the project units that was constructed by these developers, mentioned the police official. While a case has been registered in this connection, no arrests have been done so far.
