Like most metropolitan cities of the country, Hyderabad also witnesses a large influx of people from all parts of the country, given its ever-expanding job market. The professionals moving to Hyderabad are constantly on the lookout for affordable accommodation on lease. Therefore, the process of police verification has also been made easy by the authorities. Tenant verification guidelines and requirements in Hyderabad

While the official verification of tenants is done by the police, the landlord needs to have complete details of the tenants that need to be verified. The landlords should always ask for the identification proof of their tenants and retain a copy of the identity proofs. It is also wise to ask for proof of their place of employment and a copy of their payslips.

Landlords are often held legally accountable for the actions of their tenants. If the latter is found guilty of breaking the law in any way, the landlord is also liable to be penalised for the same, the penalty ranging from a light fine to severe imprisonment depending on the seriousness of the offence. Therefore, it is important to perform police verification not only for the personal safety of the landlord but also to avoid legal action.
