One of the challenges in the real estate industry is the difficulty in visualising a new apartment as a home, when the project is still a layout on paper. It is more difficult to do so when staring at a 2-D image on a screen. Housing aims to provide its users a seamless home-buying experience, one that lets the buyer see – and not just imagine – the homes he/she wants. So, we created Slice View.
Using Slice View, we have been able to capitalise on what was a shortcoming for the entire industry. It enables our users to take a virtual walk through houses, by providing 3-D renderings of every apartment, on every floor in a new project. Furthermore, they can also book their homes online, just like on any other e-commerce site! Slice View also helps us provide details of floor plans, possession, facilities, and various payment options.
It starts by letting the user inspect the 3-D master plan of a project. Then he/she can choose a specific building and view different sections by clicking on it. The user can hover over the floor of their choice, and see the available flat options. Once a flat has been selected, its 3-D floor plan is displayed. Details of the built-up area, price, possession dates, payment options and a detailed price break-up of said flat further enhances the user’s experience.
Additionally, the user can also explore the viewing position of the floor plate and its orientation. All of these features allow for an informed choice. Users also have the option of immediately booking their desired flat online. Currently, this feature is available only in collaboration with certain developers. However, very soon, it will be made available for every new project listed on the Housing site.
Slice View is the brainchild of four key teams at Housing – Studio, Tech, Design, and Product. It is a complete virtual experience for users who are keen on purchasing flats in projects under construction. We aim to scale up Slice View to the point where it is the primary medium for bookings made on all projects in India. The next target for Housing is to launch Slice View across multiple platforms on Web and Mobile.
