Alwarpet home Dhanush

The actor resided with his family at the Alwarpet home until the completion of the luxurious bungalow in Chennai’s Poes Garden.   After two years, the construction of the actor’s new house was completed, and the housewarming ceremony was attended by his parents and siblings.

Recently, actor Dhanush’s spoke about his Poes Garden house at the audio launch of his movie ‘Raayan’. During his speech, Dhanush recalled an incident in his younger days when he and his friend visited Poes Garden to see the houses of actor Rajnikanth and former chief minister Jayalalithaa, which were located in the neighbourhood. This sparked the desire in him to own a small house in a posh locality. He said that during that time his family was struggling a lot and if Thulluvadho Ilamai (his debut film directed by his father Kasthuri Raja) had not succeeded, they would have had to start living on the streets. His Poes Garden house is a gift to his younger self, he added.

The actor received criticism from a section of users on social media, triggering a debate on nepotism. The actor responded to the criticism. He said, “If I knew buying a house in Poes Garden would have become such a big topic of conversation, I would have got a small apartment instead. Should a person like me not buy a house in Poes Garden? Should a person who was born on the streets remain living there till the end of their life?”
