Vijay Varma needs no introduction. The actor, currently basking in the appreciation for his role in the Amazon Prime series, Dahaad, plans to become a homeowner soon. Till then, he is renting in Andheri West, Mumbai.
Winning high praises for his chameleon-like deftness in portraying varied characters in movies, such as Gully Boy, Varma has spent over a decade in the industry and changed 14 houses in Mumbai in that period. Last year he moved into his 15th house.

‘It was tough for the first few years…I kept moving houses because I didn’t have money or the landlords would increase the rent,’ Vijay said. He added, ‘I used to call friends and say, “Can I…stay with you for a few months?”’
After spending nine months looking for a house that would provide him with the perfect view, Varma shifted to a sea-facing flat in Andheri West in August 2022. Although personally more inclined towards the mountains, he is not complaining.
‘It just feels so peaceful and nice here. It’s open and airy and every room has natural light coming in. Also, every room has a sea view. I wanted that whichever corner of the house I am sitting in, I should be able to see some greenery outside and some sea,’ Varma told The Quint.

Keeping up with his reel-life image of the bad guy, the entrance doormat reads ‘Go away’. However, you are greeted by a turquoise blue entrance door, indicating his colourful sense of humour. This extends to a yellow sofa chair in the backdrop of a brown-tiled wall.
As is evident from his Instagram posts, Varma is a nature lover. This love is reflected in a balcony dotted with plants and a window overlooking the tall palm trees all around the housing society.
‘I need a patch of green in front of me all the time,’ says Varma.

A shoe lover, this Hyderabad-born actor has a dedicated room to display his valuable collection. His mother fondly refers to his display as his jooton ki dukaan (shoe store), Varma told the media.
‘My first pair of sneakers was gifted by (director) Anurag Kashyap. Then I bought a whole bunch of New Balance shoes. After that, I moved to Nike,’ explains the Darlings star.

Varma’s long journey in the industry ─ he made his debut with Monsoon Shootout in 2013 ─ is also well captured in his home. A corner is dedicated to several photos of the actor whose latest Netflix series, Lust Story 2, with girlfriend Tamannaah Bhatia, is already making waves. But he is a private person.

‘I don’t really have a lot of friends in the industry. I get along with a lot of people, but friends are something that I have from the past 15-16 years. I think, with some of the people I am working with in films, the connection will become stronger if it lasts. But I don’t understand the fake friendships in Bollywood,’ the 37-year-old actor told The Quint in an interview.
