One of the oldest cancer registries in the nation is maintained by the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, which is part of the National Cancer Registry Programme of India (ICMR) network and encompasses the Hospital Based Cancer Registry (since 1984) and the Population-Based Cancer Registry of Bangalore (since 1982).

Microbiology

The department began as a small Bacteriology lab and has since expanded into a full-fledged Microbiology Department, able to diagnose most opportunistic infections in immunocompromised patients, including some that need cutting-edge molecular methods.

Pathology

At Kidwai, pathology is one of the largest departments and is the foundation for cancer therapy. With a limited infrastructure for cancer research, the department primarily provides cancer diagnostic services in surgical pathology, hematopathology, cytopathology, and cytogenetics.

Radiation physics

The Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology’s Radiation Physics department was established to provide services about the scientific side of ionising radiation applications in both therapeutic and diagnostic oncology. 

Radiodiagnosis

The department is well-stocked with various imaging devices, including digital fluoroscopy and X-ray machines, whole-body CT scanners, ultrasound and colour Doppler machines, mammography units, 1.5 Tesla MRI machines, and digital subtraction angiography.
