March 15, 2024: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on March 14, 2024, conducted the inauguration and laying of foundation stones for various development projects of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority and Sabarmati Riverfront Development Corporation Limited via a video conference. The event saw the presence of several dignitaries, including the chief minister of Gujarat, Bhupendra Patel.
The home minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for approximately 63 development projects in Ahmedabad, with a combined worth of Rs 3,012 crore. Among these, 27 projects amounting to Rs 1,800 crore were allocated to the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency, 25 projects worth Rs 1,040 crore to the Ahmedabad East Lok Sabha constituency and 11 projects costing Rs 168 crore to the Ahmedabad West Lok Sabha constituency.
Key projects inaugurated during the event include the construction of a three-layer underpass at Mahmatpura Junction on Sardar Patel Ring road and a bridge at Manipur-Godhavi. Additionally, notable works launched by Shah encompass the development of a 9-kilometre stretch of Sabarmati Riverfront, construction of an overbridge at the bustling Panjrapole Junction and the beautification of Chandola Lake in the Dani Limda area of the city.
