Griha Pravesh program for 3 lakh Assam PMAY-G beneficiaries

Under the PMAY-G, 3.06 lakh houses were completed in the last three months in Assam.

July 14, 2023: The Assam government on July 13, 2023, organised a Griha Pravesh program for three lakh beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin (PMAY-G) scheme. Beneficiaries under the scheme will be paid Rs 1.30 lakh each in three installments in the form of direct bank transfer as per provisions of the scheme.

According to media reports, Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “From the target of constructing over 19.10 lakh houses till 2024, around 12 lakh houses have been constructed under the PMAY-G in Assam in the last seven years. Of this, around 8.39 lakh have been built in the last two years and 3.06 lakh houses completed in the last three months.”

The Assam government has set a target for houses for around 6.6 lakh by February 2024. Another one lakh houses will be constructed annually under the Chief Minister’s Awas Yojana.

An expenditure of Rs 14,550 crore was incurred by both the central and state governments for constructing the houses under PMAY-G.
