The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) launched the Khata Andolana programme on February 27, 2023. This facility will be available for a month and enable property owners within the municipal limits without any Khata to register their properties. Khata Andolana helpdesks has been set up in offices of jurisdictional assistant revenue officers to provide information about property registration and facilitate easy property registration.
“Khata is an account of assessment of a property, recording details about a property such as its size, location and building area for the purpose of payment of property taxes,” said Deepak R L, special commissioner (revenue), BBMP told the media.
Property owners in Bangalore can get the service from 11 am to 4 pm, and can get answers to all Khata-related queries and applications. This information will help in the BBMP collecting property taxes.
For the Khata-A registration, owners should possess documents, including order of land conversion, title deeds, encumbrance certificate and self-attested sketch of the property that shows its measurement and location. Khata-A properties are properties which have documents that are verified by government agencies. Fees for registering property under Khata-A is 2% of stamp duty form registered deed or Rs 500, whichever is less.
In the absence of the owner having the required property documents, the property will be registered under Form-B. No application fees is charged for registering property under Form ‘B’.
