CRZ notification for Mumbai coastal road project soon

The final coastal regulation zone notification for Mumbai’s coastal road project, from Nariman Point to Kandivali, is likely to be issued in a month

The final coastal regulation zone (CRZ) notification regarding Mumbai’s coastal road project will be issued in a month. Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, said this after a meeting with Union Environment and Forest Minister Anil Dave, on February 28, 2017, according to an official statement.

The 35.6-km arterial road, will connect Nariman Point in south Mumbai to the city’s western suburb of Kandivali, easing vehicular movement. “The final notification regarding coastal regulation zone (CRZ) will be issued within a month. The tenders for project works planned in south Mumbai will be issued,” Fadnavis said.

The issue of redevelopment of slums falling in CRZ in Mumbai also figured during the meeting. Another round of discussion on the issue will be held on March 4, 2017. Fadnavis also suggested that the centre should come out with guidelines, on the flow of polluted water into the sea in Mumbai, on the lines of international rivers. “The centre has assured of taking action in this regard,” the statement said.
