March 18, 2024: The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) will undertake the redevelopment of three slum clusters as part of the Centre’s ‘Jahan Jhuggi, Wahan Makan’ in-situ rehabilitation programme, aiming to improve nearly 4,000 households in the trans-Yamuna area. Lieutenant-Governor V K Saxena, accompanied by senior DDA officials, made this decision on March 15, 2024.
The project, slated to take place in the Dilshad Garden area, will encompass three JJ clusters: Kalandar Colony, Deepak Colony, and Dilshad Vihar Colony. Spanning nearly 7 hectare, the development will feature multi-storeyed buildings with flats equipped with modern amenities. This marks the first in-situ rehabilitation project in the Trans-Yamuna area, covering East and Northeast Delhi, and the fourth project overall in the capital, following similar initiatives at Kalkaji Extension, Jailorwala Bagh, and Kathputli Colony.
The L-G has instructed the DDA to present a detailed project report (DPR) outlining the finances involved as soon as possible and proceed with the project accordingly. Saxena has urged DDA officials to execute the project in a time-bound manner, ensuring minimal delays.
