With the construction work complete, operations of the Delhi-Dausa stretch of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway starts December 30, 2022, mentions the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The expressway route starts from Alipur village in Sohna, Gurugram, covering a length of 1380 km and is divided into 40 parts. The Gurugram to Dausa section covers a distance of 220 kilometres and has been divided into seven parts. The project is being developed with a budget of Rs 95,000 crore.
NHAI has asked for permission from its Sohna office to get the route operational. Once operational, the travel time from Gurugram to Dausa will be reduced by almost half. At present, commuters take four to five hours to cover this distance. However, the new route will enable them to cover the distance in two hours and 30 minutes.
The Delhi-Gurugram-Mumbai-Vadodara Expressway comprises eight lanes. It will be expanded to 12 lanes in the coming years. Currently, it takes 24 hours for commuters to travel from Delhi to Mumbai by road. The travel time will be reduced to just 12 hours once all the stretches of the expressway becomes operational.
The Delhi-Mumbai expressway will improve the connectivity of Delhi and Mumbai across cities such as Alwar, Dausa, Jaipur, Kishangarh, Ajmer, Kota, Chittorgarh, Udaipur, Bhopal, Ujjain, Indore, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, and Surat. The maximum speed limit on the corridor 120 kilometers per hour. The project has been developed using German technology and it is expected to last for at least 50 years.
The expressway will be the country’s first stretchable road and without speed breaker and it will be animal free. Moreover, there would be exit tolls instead of toll plaza while entering the road.
