Delhi govt to sync workers’ records with eShram data

The ministry shares data with states and union territories, facilitating matching, verification and provision of benefits.

December 11, 2023: To enable construction and other workers in Delhi to get maximum benefits of the welfare schemes, the Delhi government’s labour department has decided to synchronise data of the beneficiaries registered on the eShram Portal with its own records, as mentioned in a media reports.

The eShram Portal has been developed by the Ministry of Labour and Employment to develop a National Database of Unorganised Workers (NDUW), which will be seeded with Aadhaar for various categories such as such as construction, agriculture, domestic work and more. The portal enables the eligible individual to avail of the benefits of various social security and welfare schemes.

The Union Ministry regularly shares portal data with states and union territories, facilitating matching, verification and the provision of benefits based on eligibility.

As cited in reports, officials said that the Delhi government’s labour department would develop an application programming interface (API) to access the details of workers registered on the Centre’s portal.

One can directly register themselves on the portal online or approach government-appointed entities to complete the registration process. Further, beneficiaries can go to the eShram Portal and download their eShram card using their mobile number, UAN number or Aadhaar number.

In April 2023, the ministry introduced new features on the eShram Portal, which included a significant module to capture the family details of migrant workers to help the government extend child education and women-centric schemes to such families. Earlier, the ministry initiated mapping of different schemes data with eShram data to identify the registrants who were yet to receive the benefits of such schemes.
