How to reach Dilwara?

By air

From Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, etc., you can take a connecting flight to Udaipur.

By train

From Jaipur and Ahmedabad, there are regular trains to Mount Abu. It would be more convenient to take a cab instead of coordinating with the train schedules.

By road

From Udaipur to Mount Abu, there are state transport buses. Taking a flight from Delhi to Udaipur and then a bus or taxi to Mount Abu is the quickest way for international travellers to reach Mount Abu.

Vimal Vasahi

The Vimal Vasahi temple is a beautiful example of the Dilwara style of architecture. Built-in 1026. This temple is one of the more well-known temples in Mount Abu and has been made a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Vimal Vasahi is notable for its use of red sandstone and white marble. The entrance to this temple also features two large elephants on either side. This temple was built by King Bhima I from the Paramara dynasty, who ruled from 1021 to 1063.

Luna Vasahi

The Luna Vasahi temple is one of the most impressive, and it’s believed that this temple was built by Lord Indra. It’s also a really fun spot for kids to explore.

The best way to reach the temple is by either taking a taxi or the bus. A taxi will cost around Rs. 600, while a bus will cost Rs. 60. The temples are about 20 km from Udaipur and can be reached in about 30 minutes by car or two hours by foot. But there is not much to see on the way, so it may be better to go by bus.

Pittalhar temple

The Pittalhar temple is famous for its sculptures carved out of white marble. Several sculptures, such as images of Ganga and Yamuna, are beautifully carved out on pillars inside the temple complex. Apart from these pillars, there are other sculptures in different forms, such as Indra riding his elephant Airavata. 

You can reach the temple by road or railway. The nearest railway station is Palitana, and the temple is at a distance of 20 kilometres from Palitana. You can either take a bus or a private vehicle from Palitana to reach the temple. The nearest airport to the temple is Bhavnagar Airport, which is at a distance of about 120 km from Palitana. 

Parshvanath temple

The Parshvanath temple is the largest and tallest of the Dilwara temples. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva and has an inscription dated to 1027 AD. The temple was built by King Bhima of the Chalukya dynasty, who ruled Gujarat from 1022 to 1063 AD. There are six Jain images on the walls of this temple, which are among the most beautiful sculptures at these sites. The detailed work can be seen on the lotus petals that adorn their crowns, as well as their large earrings. You will also see a large statue of Shreshthi Vinayaka on one side wall.

Mahavir Swami temple

The Mahavir Swami temple is one of the most picturesque temples you can visit. It is located on the top of a hill and gives you a great view of the surrounding area. The temple was built in 1027 AD and is dedicated to Lord Mahavira, who was the 24th Tirthankara. In total, there are nine shrines which make up this complex.
