The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on April 20, 2023, said it carried out searches as it pursues an investigation against Agrani Homes on charges of defrauding homebuyers. Raids by the ED were conducted on April 18, 2023, across 8 locations in Patna, Lucknow, Varanasi and New Delhi.
“The ED raided the premises of company CMD Alok Kumar, Vijaya Raj Laxmi, Alka Singh, Rana Ranveer Singh along with the premises of key employee Satvik Singh and chartered accountant Nishat Shrivastava in different cities,” the government’s enforcement agency said in a statement.
The probe by ED is based on 8 FIRs registered against Alok Kumar and his relatives in different police stations in Patna, Bihar.
“More than 73 complaints against Agrani Homes, and its CMD Alok Kumar Singh and others have been received in this directorate wherein it has been mentioned that the said company has cheated the prospective home buyers for a sum of Rs 9.73 crore,” the ED said adding that the ongoing probe has revealed that the company and its director have cheated the prospective buyers and illegally diverted their money for acquiring properties in their personal name or in the name of other companies.
“During the search, incriminating documents viz sale deeds of properties purchased by Alok Kumar in his name and in the name of his company have been found and seized. 119 bank accounts, 4 insurance policies and 2 luxury vehicles in the name of Agrani Homes and its directors have been seized,” it said.
Other incriminating physical and digital material found during the search has also been seized for further examination, it added.
