A 100-year old home frozen in time, in South Bombay.
Seen here reading his morning paper, is the current owner and occupant of this magnificent heritage house in Apollo Bandar, South Bombay. He’s been living here since a little more than 50 years, but the house has been in the family for almost 80.
The owner’s grandfather had moved into this flat in Sargent House sometime in the 1930s. Since then, it has been in his family for over 8 decades, and largely remained unchanged, in appearance and spirit!
The owner’s grandfather took care of the house, and treasured it throughout his life. To this day, the home still has most of its original flooring, quintessential arched doorways, and elegant touches of an era gone by.
The Sargent House building is itself over a 100 years old. It is said that it was built along with the legendary Taj Mahal Hotel!
