Govt clears Rs 8,200 cr PMAY fund for West Bengal

With around 11 lakh units sanctioned for 2022-23, the entire project’s value is around estimated around Rs 13,000 crore

The Central government has approved 60% of fund required to build housing units under its flagship Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) programme for 2022-23. This amounts to the east Indian state receiving around Rs 8,200 crore for the year.

With around 11 lakh units sanctioned for 2022-23, the entire project’s value is estimated around Rs 13,000 crore.

Recall here that the Central government had stopped clearing money for West Bengal from April 2022 due to its reservations on change of name of the project from the PM Awas Yojana to the Banglar Awas Yojana.

 

Earlier, the Centre had cleared around Rs 350 crore for rural roads and Rs 8,000 crore in dues against the GST for West Bengal.
