Gadkari said the proposed ropeway will help in movement especially during the peak pilgrimage season and reduce the travel time between the two points to 7 minutes. The ropeway will facilitate 64,000 pilgrims every day. The Union Minister said it would promote tourism and provide eco-friendly means of transportation while creating new employment opportunities.
The 176.2-km ropeway will start at the Ujjain Railway Station and end at Ganesh Colony near the Mahakal Temple. It will also have a stop at the Triveni Museum in the middle. The Ujjain Junction Railway Station-Mahakaleshwar Temple ropeway is expected to be ready by 2028.
