In the Gujarat Budget presented on February 24, 2023, finance minister Kanubhai Desai allocated Rs 1, 066 crore for the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) scheme in a bid to achieve the target of providing houses to around 1 lakh people by next year.

Another Rs 932 crore has been allotted for constructing homes under the PMAY-G category. Also, Rs 547 crore was granted for the smart city mission in Gujarat by the finance minister while Rs 76 crore was proposed for Gujarat’s GIFT City.
The Budget also made provisions of Rs 8,086 crore for the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana (SJMSVY) implemented for basic infrastructure facilities in municipalities, municipal corporations and urban authorities.
To improve connectivity, Gujarat is looking at developing 5 high-speed corridors at Rs 1,500 crore. Under the PM Gati Shakti programme, a provision of Rs 200 crore contribution to Ahmedabad-Mumbai Bullet Train Project was announced.
