March 21, 2024: The Haryana Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) on March 18, 2024, revoked the registration of five affordable housing projects initiated by Mahira Infratech due to alleged breaches by the developer. This action was taken after the builder failed to adhere to the provisions of the RERA Act and complete construction across various sectors in Gurgaon. The affected projects are Mahira Homes Sector 68, Mahira Homes Sector 104, Mahira Homes Sector 103, Mahira Homes Sector 63A and Mahira Homes Sector 95.
Additionally, the authority prohibited the promoter from accessing websites related to these projects, and the promoter’s name will be listed as a defaulter on RERA’s website. The banks holding the projects’ accounts have been instructed to freeze them until further notice. However, this does not affect the statutory rights of the allottees under the RERA Act 2016 and its accompanying rules and regulations.
The authority’s order stated that the promoter had deliberately violated several provisions of the RERA Act 2016 and its regulations. RERA noted that the promoter had improperly diverted funds deposited by homebuyers across all five projects. The authority had previously conducted inspections on February 14, 2024, to assess the progress of construction at these project sites.
