Haryana has a well-developed infrastructure with a wide network of roads and robust interstate connectivity. Every state of India is allowed to levy road tax under the Motor Vehicle Act 1988. Haryana Motor Vehicles Taxation Act, 1936
According to the 1936 Haryana Motor Vehicles Taxation Act, only those vehicles that have been completely or partially exempted by the state government may be driven. Unless the owner has paid a tax at the applicable rate specified in the First Schedule to the Act as described, the vehicles cannot be operated in the Haryana State. The Act also allows for the imposition of fines for violations of its rules.
Timeframe for tax payment
According to the provisions of the Act, the owner of a motor vehicle would be required to pay the tax in advance on or before the 15th of April each year. The owner may alternatively choose to pay the tax in 4 equal monthly instalments due on or before the 15th of April, July, October, and January.
How is the Haryana Road Tax calculated?
Haryana road tax is calculated based on the vehicle type and age. Paying Haryana Road Tax
You can visit your nearest RTO (Regional Transport Office) to fill out and submit the form. You can collect and deposit this form in that office itself.
