The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (Mhada) has been directed by the Bombay High Court on March 21, 2023 to provide occupancy certificate (OC) to the rehabilitation and free sale component buildings in the Patra Chawl and Siddharth Nagar Redevelopment Project at Goregaon. While previously the deadline to give OC was April 5, 2023, the Bombay High Court while issuing clarification on March 27, 2023 hearing extended deadline to April 10, 2023, mentions a TOI report.
 This ruling is a respite for the around 672 tenants and 1,700 homebuyers who had purchased units from the saleable component of Patra Chawl Goregaon. Home buyers had booked the flats in 2012 and were supposed to get possession by 2016. In want of OC and possession, they have staged protests many times with the recent ones being in February 2023, December 2022 and September 2022.
With respect to the free sale component, two of the three towers made by Ekta Everglade Homes are complete and waiting for the OC. Other parts are at various parts of construction.
Also, the Bombay High Court has directed Mhada to pay rent to 672 members of the Patra Chawl project. These members have vacated the 47-acre land and are eligible for transit fees and permanent re-accommodation. Mhada will pay rent to these members from the time Mhada took over rehabilitation project, work of which is in progress. The deadline of this project is May 2024.
