HC issues order to demolish illegal building in Ghansoli, Navi Mumbai

The building was constructed on Cidco land without seeking any permission.

March 28, 2024: The Bombay High Court has issued an order to demolish a building in Ghansoli, Navi Mumbai that has been developed illegally. The said building was constructed without getting permission from the City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra (Cidco), mention media reports.

The High Court pointed that a building that is wholly illegal cannot be regularised by penalising and charging high fees. The court ruled that public good holds high as compared to be private interest and has denied giving a stay order on this matter.

Terming the building illegal, the High Court has given Cidco six weeks to evacuate the occupants of the building after which the building should be razed.
