High demand for DDA flats in Narela and Rohini; Dwarka flats sold out

Interested applicants can visit the DDA’s official website to book a flat.

July 12, 2023: Flat booking for Delhi Development Authority’s (DDA) first-come-first-serve scheme started on July 10, 2023. Over 1,000 flats have been booked so far across locations. All the 50 units of 2BHK flats offered in Dwarka were sold out within a few hours, according to media reports. Over 300 flats were booked at Rohini and over 200 at Narela, located in sectors A1 to A4 and Pocket 1B, were also fully sold out.

The scheme has received an overwhelming response compared to other housing schemes, the authority said. The DDA’s official website received over 13 lakh, a senior official said. By 5.30 PM on July 10, 305 flats had been booked while 7,324 registrations had been done, mention media reports. Of the total 305 flats, 81 flats under 1 BHK economically weaker section (EWS) category, 184 units under 1BHK lower income group (LIG) category, 32 units of 2BHK and eight units of 3BHK flats were booked.

There was a heavy demand for DDA flats available in Narela and Rohini. According to the authority, it is the first time in its history that it had issued 945 demand letters online to all those who have booked their flats in the last 24 hours. As many as 435 flats in Narela, 50 flats in Dwarka, 475 in Rohini, 10 in Siraspur, 16 in Jasola and 29 flats in Lok Nayak Puram have been booked.

The DDA opened registrations for 5,600 flats under the first-come-first-serve (FCFS) scheme on June 30. It allowed 10 days for people to visit the sample flats. Under this scheme, the flat is considered booked once the applicant pays the initial booking amount and a demand letter is generated and sent to the allottee. The allottee is given three months’ time to complete the rest of the payment, following which, the flat is allotted.

DDA taking steps to attract buyers

As stated in media reports, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, also chairman of the DDA, personally monitored the DDA’s housing policy and asked for various measures to be taken to make the flats more attractive to homebuyers. The authority said that connectivity and security measures have been improved in Narela, while several infrastructure projects are coming up in the sub-city.

Further, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced that the proposed Rithala-Narela corridor will be extended up to Kundli in Haryana. This will provide enhanced connectivity to new sectors of Rohini and Narela.
