How to apply for Ambedkar scholarship?

Ambedkar Scholarship helps students from low-income backgrounds to pursue higher education.

Ambedkar Scholarship: Eligibility criteria

To be considered for this scholarship, the candidate must demonstrate that they meet all of the following requirements: 

  • For Scheduled Caste

  1. Students are eligible for financial assistance through scholarships if their parents’ or guardians’ annual income does not surpass Rs. 2,50,000/- (two lakhs and fifty thousand only).
  2. Only citizens of India are eligible to apply for scholarships.
  3. With the following exclusions, these scholarships shall be awarded for pursuing education in any post-matriculation or post-secondary programs recognised by institutions that are also recognised:
  • Courses for becoming an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer as well as courses for acquiring a Private Pilot License.
  • Ship Dufferin Training 
  • Training at the Dehradun Military College
  • Pre-Examination Training Centres at the national and state levels of India.
  1. To qualify, applicants must have completed matric or any higher examination from a recognised Board or university and be members of a Scheduled Caste as defined by the State/Union Territory to which they belong, i.e. where they have made their permanent home.
  2. Candidates who have already completed one level of education and are currently enrolled in the same level of education in a separate subject (e.g., I.Sc. after I.A., B.Com. after M.A.) will not be considered.
  3. Those who have already earned a degree in one field before applying (e.g., L.L.B. after B.T./B.Ed.) will not be considered. 
  4. Students who are currently enrolled in postgraduate medical programs and are not permitted to practise medicine at the time they are taking such programs will be eligible.
  5. Students who, regardless of whether they passed or failed their undergraduate or postgraduate exams in arts, science, or commerce and then enrolled in any recognised professional or technical certificate, diploma, or degree program are eligible for scholarships, provided they meet the other requirements. Except for the classes in Group I, a second failure will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
  6. In addition to traditional college students, they also welcome correspondence course students. Correspondence courses include both online and traditional distance learning.
  7. Students who are currently employed and whose combined household income does not surpass the maximum authorised income threshold are eligible for post-matric scholarships covering the full cost of all mandatory, non-refundable fees.
  8. The system would provide payments to all youngsters living under the same roof as their parents or legal guardians.
  9. Scholarship holders who get coaching at a pre-exam training centre with central/state government funding are not eligible for compensation during the coaching program.
  • For OBC

  1. Post-matric scholarships must be available to employed students whose annual household income does not surpass Rs. l lakh, including that of their parents or guardians. If a student is currently jobless and their family’s annual income does not surpass Rs. 1 lakh, then they are eligible for a scholarship.
  2. Indian citizens of the OBC category are eligible for scholarships.
  3. Except as noted below, recipients of these scholarships may use their funds to enrol in any accredited post-high-school or post-secondary program at an accredited institution. 
  • Courses for becoming an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer and Courses for acquiring a Private Pilot License.
  • Ship Dufferin Training 
  • Training at the Dehradun Military College
  • Pre-Examination Training Centres at the national and state levels of India.
  1. Candidates who, after completing one level of education, immediately begin another level of education in a different field of study (e.g., I.Sc. after I.A., B.Com. after B.A., or M.A. in other fields of study) will not be considered.
  2. If a student has already earned a bachelor’s degree in one field and then another, such as L.L.B. after B.T./B.Ed., they will not be considered. 
  3. Only OBC applicants mentioned regarding the state/union territory to whom the applicant genuinely belongs, i.e. permanently settled, and who have passed the matric or higher secondary examination of a recognised university or Board of Secondary Education shall be eligible.
  4. Medical postgraduate students who are not licensed to practise throughout their term of study will be considered.
  5. If they qualify, students who enrol in a recognised professional or technical certification, diploma, or degree program will be offered scholarships after losing or passing the undergraduate/post-graduate exams in Arts, Science, or Commerce. Except for courses in Group ‘I,’ a second failure will not be tolerated.
  6. Students who are enrolled in their education via correspondence courses are also eligible. The terms distance learning and ongoing education are included under the umbrella word of “correspondence.”
  7. The program will only allow the benefits to be distributed to a maximum of two children who share the same set of parents or guardians.
  8. Scholarship holders who get coaching at a pre-exam training centre with central/state government funding are not eligible for a stipend during the coaching program.

 

Ambedkar Scholarship: Documents required 

When applying for the Dr Ambedkar Scholarship, prospective students must present all necessary documentation. They are responsible for ensuring that the documents have been scanned and are presented appropriately. Consequently, the following is a list of the prerequisites for the Dr Ambedkar Scholarship:

  • A self-attested photocopy of your caste certificate
  • Validation of residence
  • Proof of Parents’ Income Document
  • Validated proof of high school diploma
  • Bank passbook cover page photocopy

Ambedkar Scholarship: Application process 

Dr Ambedkar Scholarship applications may be submitted digitally. Candidates applying for the Dr Ambedkar Scholarship should complete the online application found on the website. Those who are interested should apply before the deadline to increase their chances of being considered. Here is a complete rundown of the application process:

1.Go to the Dr Ambedkar Scholarship Portal.

2.To create a new account on the scholarship portal, the student should go to the ‘Student Registration page. You’ll be assigned a unique username and password when you sign up.

3.Applicants for the Dr Ambedkar Scholarship may log in to the site by selecting the “Registered Students” link and entering their user ID and password.

4.They may access the Dr Ambedkar Scholarship application by clicking the “Apply for Scholarship” button.

5.All mandatory fields on the application form must be completed.

6.Before submitting the Dr Ambedkar application form, the applicant should double-check all the information they have provided and click the “Register Scholarship Application form” button.

7.To verify their credentials, applicants should use the application’s left-hand tab to submit the necessary paperwork.

8.At this point, the applicant should print off the form and submit it, together with any supporting papers that were not uploaded online, to the designated institution.

 

Ambedkar Scholarship: Renewal process 

If you want to apply for the Dr Ambedkar Scholarship or reapply if you already have, you must do so using the website provided.  Listed below are the steps involved in renewing your Dr Ambedkar Scholarship:

  1. If an applicant wishes to reapply for the Dr Ambedkar Scholarship, he or she must first go to the scholarship’s website and choose the “New Registration” tab.
  2. They should sign in using the same credentials that were used for the Dr Ambedkar Scholarship.
  3. Afterwards, they need to go to the current year’s application and choose the tab labelled “Renewal Application.”
  4. The user must input their full name and email address to create a fresh User ID and password.
  5. Once the applicant has their updated credentials, they should use them to access the portal.
  6. The Dr BR Ambedkar Scholarship Application Form appears, asking for the applicant’s personal information and academic and extracurricular history.
  7. Any additional information that may be outdated may be changed.
  8. The last step in filling out the renewal form is clicking “Submit” and uploading the necessary papers.

Ambedkar Scholarship: Rewards 

To help worthy kids afford education, the government awards them Dr Ambedkar Scholarships. Using a technique called Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), they would deposit the Dr Ambedkar Scholarship recipient’s allotted funds immediately into their bank account.

  • A scholarship amount of Rs 550/- per month would be provided to the day scholars for a total of ten months.
  • Those who want to join the hostel may also choose that option if they want to do so. Candidates will get a maintenance and allowance payment of up to 1,200 Indian Rupees (Rs.) each month for a period of ten months.

Ambedkar Scholarship: Terms and conditions 

  1. Please ensure that you meet all requirements set out by the authorities.
  2. The application process must be followed. The forms need to be filled out promptly.
  3. The money will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis, so please plan accordingly. Accordingly, it is totally dependent on the annual government budget that is made public.
  4. The grant money would be dispersed through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer). The transition will be less complicated as a result of this. Candidates will send the funds straight to the recipients’ Aadhaar-linked bank accounts. The Scheme does not allow for any kind of payment other than electronic transfer.
