How to download your disability certificate?

A disability certificate is issued to an individual meeting the eligibility criteria

One of the most important initiatives taken by the Indian government is the provision of a certificate for people with disabilities. The government is carrying out this initiative to establish a national database and provide people with disabilities with a unique disability certificate. It is now possible for anyone to register, apply for, and download a disability certificate online, which has made the procedure much more streamlined.

Eligibility criteria for disability certificate

A disability certificate may be issued to a person if that person meets the criteria for issuing the certificate, which is a disability of at least 40% in the following categories.

  • Blindness

Blindness is the medical term for the condition that occurs when a person struggles from one of the following disorders, in particular:

  • Complete and utter lack of visibility.
  • Visual acuity in the better eye that does not surpass 6/60 and 20/200 (Snellen) with the use of corrective lenses.
  • A restriction of the visual field that subtends an inclination of 20 degrees or worse.

Cerebral palsy

A person is said to have cerebral palsy if they have one of many non-progressive diseases that are defined by impaired motor control posture and are the consequence of brain injury or damage that occurred during the prenatal, perinatal, or neonatal phase of development.

  • Low vision

A person is considered to have “low vision” if they have an impairment in their visual capabilities even after receiving therapy for conventional refractive correction. Yet, they utilise or are theoretically capable of utilising vision for the preparation or execution of a task with adequate assistive technology.

  • Locomotor disability

The term “locomotor disability” refers to any kind of cerebral palsy or a condition that affects the bones, joints, or muscles, resulting in significant limitations placed on a person’s ability to move their limbs.

  • Leprosy-cured

The term “leprosy-cured person” refers to an individual who has been treated for leprosy but continues to suffer from:

  • Paresis of the eye and eyelid without visible deformity, loss of feeling in the hands or feet, and lack of sensation in the eye itself.
  • visible deformities and paralysis, but with adequate use of hands and feet for gainful employment.
  • When a person has a severe physical defect or is too old to work, both of which preclude him from engaging in gainful employment, the phrase “leprosy cured” should be interpreted in this light.

Mental retardation

The term “mental retardation” refers to a condition in which a person’s mental growth is either halted or incomplete, and below-average levels of intellect particularly distinguish this condition.

  • Mental illness

Any mental ailment apart from mental retardation is called a “mental illness.”

  • Hearing impairment

A “Hearing impairment” is defined as a loss of sixty dB or more in the conversational frequency range in the better ear.

Disability certificate benefits

The following is a list of the many advantages that will be available to people with disabilities from disability certificate download:

  • Since the certificate stores all the required information, people with disabilities won’t have to worry about making, keeping, or transporting numerous copies of papers.
  • In the future, the disability certificate will serve as the only piece of identification and verification the handicapped will need to access a wide range of services.
  • A beneficiary’s physical and financial development can be tracked more easily with the disability certificate, which is true at every tier of the implementation hierarchy (local, regional, state, and federal).

Candidate objectives for the disability certificate project are clearly laid forth. If handicapped applicants have disability certificates, the government programs available to them will be accessible and equitable.

Things to consider

  • The enrollment registration number will be assigned for all properly submitted applications.
  • SMS confirmation, including the enrollment/application registration number, will be provided to the applicant.
  • Applicants without a disability certificate will get an SMS with the day and time to attend the closest CMO office for an evaluation.
  • After evaluation and verification, an online disability certificate/UDID Card will be created.
  • SMS acknowledgement will be issued to the applicant upon UDID number allocation.
  • The application’s status may be seen online by entering the enrollment/application registration number.
  • Printed disability certificates will be sent to disabled persons at their postal addresses as soon as they are produced.
