January 11, 2024: The Haryana Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA), taking note of advertisements, has cautioned homebuyers not to book any houses or flats in unregistered projects, according to a TOI report. The HRERA (Gurgaon) chairperson, Arun Kumar, on January 11, 2024, said that Section 3 of the RERA Act, 2016, lays down penalties for advertisements of unregistered projects. Similarly, according to Section 9 of the RERA Act, registration with the authority before any sale is mandatory.
Kumar also stated that the regulatory authority is scanning these advertisements. As cited in the media report, he said that the sale and purchase of properties in unregistered real estate projects was not allowed under the RERA Act, the main objective of which is to protect the interest of buyers/ allottees.
In an official statement, the authority said that if any person is facilitating sale purchase in unregistered projects through advertisement or any other means, that would be a violation of the act. Kumar added that promoters should discourage advertising of their projects before RERA registration as it is an offence and legal action will be taken against any violators.
Developers can register projects on the official RERA Haryana website.
