July 25, 2024: The Telangana government presented its state budget today and announced an allocation of Rs 2.91 lakh crore for 2024-25. The total revenue expenditure is expected to be Rs 2.21 lakh crore and capital expenditure Rs 33,487 crore. The state government announced allocations for key infrastructure projects, including the metro expansion to the Airport, the Outer Ring Road (ORR) and the Hyderabad Multi-Modal Transport System (MMTS).
The outlay for the Hyderabad Old City metro project is pegged at Rs 500 crore. Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy laid the foundation stone for the Old city metro rail project on March 8th 2024. The elevated metro line is a part of the 70-km Hyderabad Metro Phase 2 project. The metro line will comprise four stations – Salarjung Museum, Charminar, Shalibanda and Falaknuma.

An allocation of Rs 100 crore has been announced for the metro extension to the Airport. The Telangana government has allocated funds for key projects, including Rs 200 crore for the Outer Ring Road (ORR) project and Rs 50 crore for the Multi-Modal Transport System (MMTS). The state government has also allocated Rs 500 crore to the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA).
