In a bid to facilitate Maharashtra citizens to register property documents on the weekend, 27 offices of the IGR Maharashtra will operate every Saturday and Sunday. These offices in Mumbai, Nagpur, Nashik, Pune and Thane will be open during the weekends.
This is a welcome change that was being asked for by both developers and homebuyers. Previously, of the 516 property registration offices, only five offices were operational during the weekends.
According to data property brokerage firm Knight Frank, Mumbai, with 10,514 units of property registrations, added over Rs 900 crore to the state exchequer in April 2023. The daily average property registration in April 2023 was 352 units. With property registration facilities available during the weekends, this number is expected to grow.
