The phase 3 project is expected to be completed at a total cost of Rs 16,368 crore. The Kempapura-JP Nagar section will comprise 22 stations, with six interchange stations, while the Hosahalli-Kadabagere section will have nine stations.
The new phase will cover localities such as JP Nagar, Hosakerehalli and Nagarbhavai along the Outer Ring Road, providing connectivity to most parts of Bengaluru South, as per a tweet posted by Bangalore South MP Tejasvi Surya.
The in-principle approval implies clearance from the urban development and finance departments to fund the metro project. The project will receive funding from the central government besides loans raised by the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL).
The state government will soon get central clearance for the metro project. The initial estimate for the project was about Rs 13,000 crore. The revised estimate was made considering the inflation and cost escalation until 2028 during which the metro lines will become operational. All about e swathu
