Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) will demolish all illegal constructions developed by the 65 builders booked in the RERA certificate scam. These developers have already been served notices by KDMC to submit documents within 15 days regarding the illegal constructions.
“We have primarily served notices to the builders as we plan to demolish those which are found illegal. The ward officers have served the notices and have asked the builders to submit the documents in15 days’ time. Failing which, the building will be declared unauthorised and face demolition,” KDMC commissioner Bhausaheb Dangade was quoted by Hindustan Times as saying.
According to Dangade, 65 builders have 65 projects in KDMC for which they had acquired Maha RERA certificates by submitting forged documents. KDMC is also checking if more projects have been illegally developed. Additionally, investigations are going on to find out if these constructions were done on government land.

Thane’s Special Investigating Team (SIT) is probing the KDMC RERA certificate scam and has frozen bank accounts of the 65 developers. They are also evaluating details of the scam to find out the scale of the RERA certificate scam.
According to an SIT officer, “There are four parties involved in this scam which includes the land owner, the developer, the customer and the stakeholders. We are checking on all the aspects of this scam to get into its depth and know if there is any influential person involved.”
The KDMC RERA certificate scam got highlighted after city-based architect Sandeep Patil filed a PIL in the Bombay High Court in 2021.
