Keeping it Real: Housing.com podcast Episode 54

Let’s explore the Budget’s impact on real estate, the surge in high-end housing demand and what lies ahead for the market.

Luxury Homes on the Rise: What’s Driving Demand?

Welcome to another episode of “Keeping It Real” by Housing.com. In this episode, we explore the impact of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s 2024-25 budget, which allocated Rs 2.2 lakh crore to boost affordable housing in urban areas—a segment long in need of support. The government aims to build one crore new homes under PMAY-Urban for low and mid-income households.
Despite this, the luxury housing segment is booming. A recent PropTiger.com report shows that 43% of new launches in Q1 2024 were in the high-end category, priced above one crore rupees, with 38% of sales in this segment.
Joining us is Vikas Wadhawan, CFO of REA India and Business Head of PropTiger.com, to discuss these trends. We’ll dive into the budget’s impact on real estate, the surge in high-end housing demand, and what lies ahead for the market. Tune in for expert insights!
