Jatia House: History
The Jatia House was built in 1928 and has a rich history. It reflects Burmese architectural features. The house was previously owned by the Jatias, which also includes Pudumjee Pulp and Paper. MP Jatia, the founder of the company, moved from Burma to Mumbai in 1964 due to political unrest, according to media reports.
MP Jatia had lived in a bungalow in Burma and wanted to replicate the same house in Mumbai. The Jatia House was previously occupied by MP Jatia’s sons Shyam Jatia and Arun Jatia and their families. The bungalow was completely renovated in 1987.
