December 27, 2023: Property owners in Ludhiana can pay the arrears of property tax from FY2013-14 to 2023-24 before December 31, 2023 without penalty and interest. This is under the one-time settlement (OTS) scheme that has been introduced by the Punjab government. The OTS is a 100% waiver on penalty and interest that was introduced by the state government in September 2023.
According to the rules, all property owners who have not paid their property tax have to pay 18% annual interest and 20% penalty on the property tax that is remaining to be paid. People who do not avail of the OTS and pay the property tax between January 1, 2024, to March 31, 2024, have to pay the penalty and interest charges as per the regulations.
