Maha govt approves Rs 2,000 cr infrastructure projects for Pune

The work on the projects will start in 2023 and Maharashtra government will offer its share of 40 per cent in the next three years.

Maharashtra government has approved infrastructure projects worth Rs 2,000 crore for Pune, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced on January 14, 2023. The projects will include development of a flood-protection wall, widening of Katraj-Kondhwa road, flyover, underpass and construction of grade separators. The construction work will commence this year and the state government will offer its share of 40 per cent in the next three years.

Fadnavis made the announcement when inaugurating the Dharamveer Sambhaji Maharaj bridge in Yerawada and laying foundation stones for projects including the widening of the old Mumbai-Pune highway, development of BRTS route, water supply scheme for Bavdhan and construction of a building of Atal Bihari Vajpayee medical college.

Maharashtra government is prioritising the development of ring road in the city and Rs 10,000 crore has been allocated for the project. It will create an additional value of Rs 2.5 lakh crore and boost economic growth, he said. He further added that Pune will become the second growth engine in the state after Mumbai and that its rate of growth would be doubled in the next few years.
