MahaRERA issues final deadline for agents to get competency certificate

Failure to comply will result in MahaRERA taking strict action.

December 14, 2023: The Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) issued a notification on December 13, 2023 stating that effective January 1, 2024, only those real estate agents with a valid MahaRERA Real Estate Agent Certificate of Competency can apply for MahaRERA real estate agent registration/ renewal of registration.

According to the notice, the existing real estate agents should get their MahaRERA Real Estate Agent Certificate of Competency before January 1, 2024, and upload it on the MahaRERA website. Failure to do so will result in MahaRERA taking strict action.

This order is applicable for all agents in case of individuals and authorised signatory and all employees of companies of real estate agents who interact with homebuyers for real estate transactions.

Effective January 1, 2024, promoters of realty projects shall ensure that name and addresses of the agents that have to be given in compliance with Section 4 (2) (j) of the Act shall be only of such agents who have MahaRERA Real Estate Agent Certificate of Competency.
