The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has invited bids to lease two plots at the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC). The plots C13 and C19 are located in the G-Block of BKC and will be leased for 80 years.
The authority is looking to generate around Rs 2,900 crore from this deal. The MMRDA plans to use the raised money on several infrastructural projects that are planned across the city.
MMRDA plots to be let on lease
Plot | Total area | Area with development potential |
C 13 | 7,017.90 sqm | 45,000 sqm |
C 19 | 6,096.67 sqm | 40,000 sqm |
In October 2022, the MMRDA had leased two plots in the BKC for Rs 2,067 crore. They were leased for 80 years to Goisu Realty, a unit of Japan-based Sumitomo Corporation.
The MMRDA projects in the city include the Mumbai Metro, Mumbai Trans Harbour Link, Mumbai Coastal Road and other infrastructural projects. While it cannot generate revenue for its projects by levying tax, MMRDA raises money by leasing plots and monetising the Mumbai Metro and other assets that it possesses.
