Mumbai Coastal Road Phase-1 to be inaugurated on Feb 19

It will be opened for the public one day after it is inaugurated.

February 5, 2024: Phase-1 of the Mumbai Coastal Road will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 19, confirmed Iqbal Singh Chahal, municipal commissioner and administrator, BMC. It will be opened for the public one day after it is inaugurated.

Phase-1 of the project starts from the Princess Street flyover and ends at the Worli end of the Bandra-Worli Sea Link. It is around 10.58 km and will not attract any toll. With this time to travel between Worli and Marine Drive which is usually 40-45 minutes will reduce to around 10 minutes.

Phase-2 of the Mumbai Coastal Road is from the other side of the Bandra Worli Sea Link to Kandivali and is around 20 km.

As per media reports, Chahal told that work on the Mumbai Coastal Road is almost 84% complete. “Phase-2 that includes 8-lanes with twin tunnels between Malabar Hill’s Priyadarshini Park to Marine Drive, will be opened for traffic by May 15 2024,” he added.

Also, as part of his visit to the city, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone of the Goregaon-Mulund link road (GMLR) that is pegged to be around Rs 6,200 crore.
