June 1, 2023: The Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Limited (MMMOCL) has secured an insurance policy for all passengers travelling by Mumbai Metro Lines 2A and 7. The maximum cover for the policy is up to Rs 5 lakh.
“Apart from all the safety and security measures in place, we realise that securing a passenger’s commute for unforeseen circumstances is of utmost importance. Hence, we have provided comprehensive insurance coverage to our valued customers,” said S V R Srinivas, chairman and managing director, MMMOCL.
Who will be eligible for the policy?
Only passengers on Mumbai Metro 2A and 7 Lines with valid ticket, smart card, pass, QR Code or legal permission to be exempted from holding a ticket are eligible to be covered under this insurance policy. Also, these passengers have to be present in the Mumbai Metro station building or in the metro train or anywhere on the station premises that include paid and unpaid areas.
People in areas outside the metro station including parking, auto stand, footover bridge etc. are not covered under the insurance policy.
Insurance policy coverage details
Incidents of accident, disability and death caused while travelling on the Metro Lines 2A and 7 are covered under this insurance policy. The policy includes treatment in outpatient department (OPD) for up to Rs 10,000 and a maximum cover of Rs 1 lakh for hospitalisation. The policy will provide a compensation of up to Rs 4 lakh for partial and permanent disability and up to Rs 5 lakh for mortality, depending on case to case basis.
