Work on Mumbai Metro Line-3, also known as the Aqua Line, is 79% complete, says the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (MMRCL). As of January 31, 2023, the Aqua Line’s overall civil works completed is 90.6%, the overall systems works completed is 46.1%, the track works complete is 53.8%, overall station construction is 88.3% and tunneling completed is 100%.
The 33.5-km Aqua Line with 28 stations is the first underground metro in Mumbai. Phase-1 runs from Aarey to BKC while Phase-2 will operate from BKC to Cuffe Parade.
Media reports mention that Phase-1 of the Mumbai Metro from Aarey to BKC will be operational from December 2023.

Phase-wise project completion breakup
According to MMRCL data, Phase -1 of the Aqua Line is from Aarey to BKC and is 84% completed.
- Station and tunnel works: 97.1%
- Overall systems works: 59.1%
- Overall station construction: 91,3%
- Track works: 70.6%
- OCS works: 56.3%
Phase -2 of Aqua line is from BKC to Cuffe Parade and is 75.6% completed.
- Station and tunnel works: 94.5%
- Overall systems works: 39.6%
- Overall station construction: 86.3%
- Track works: 44.2%
- OCS works: 45.8%
