MMRDA announced that civil work of stations on Mumbai metro line 6 is 51.50 percent completed in a statement. Additionally, MMRDA has achieved 71% viaduct completion on the 15.31 km long Metro corridor of Metro line 6. Overall physical progress on this line is 66% complete.
Metro Line 6 also known as Pink line will be operational between Swami Samarth Nagar to Vikhroli (EEH) passing through Jogeshwari, WEH, and Powai. The major portion of the line will run through the JVLR, which is going to be a fully elevated corridor, connecting Western and Eastern Express Highways as well as the Metro region from North-South East-West areas of Mumbai.
Integrated with several Mumbai Metro Lines, Metro Line-6 has 13 stations. Several stations of this corridor are integrated with other metro corridors. For instance, Metro Line 2A at Shastri Nagar(infinity mall), Line7 at JVLR, Line 3 at Seepz area and Line 4 at Kanjurmarg (W).
Additionally, MMRDA is constructing a combined 2.58 km long road flyover below Metro Line 6 at a common pier in the road median to provide additional transport facilities. “MMRDA is constructing the Mumbai Metro network to provide mass rapid transit services to people within a small approach distance. Metro Line 6 will provide the much-needed rail-based connectivity between the western and eastern suburbs, and will contribute to an integrated public transport network for Mumbaikars” said S.V.R. Srinivas, metropolitan commissioner, MMRDA.
